CURRENT SHOW
”A New Vision of Normal”

A New Vision of Normal” is @gabrizea’s solo debut show in Seattle, opening Saturday, April 4 to the 26th at Base Camp Studios (2407 1st Ave). This is a don’t miss exhibit!

Eight new works in the exhibit speak to the intervention of the digital world in our day-to-day lives. With a surrealist touch and a technician’s eye for detail, Gabriel’s works entice visitors to see depictions of the new normality that exists between our lives in the midst of others and the creeping background digitization of media, news, finance, and more. The mass of knowledge at our fingertips, the reliance on the internet for community and business, creates at times a kind of solitude, an altered relationship with other people and the natural world, one which is generally extractive.

@gabrizea’s paintings in this exhibit are meant to evoke a feeling in the viewer of being within the thrall of aesthetic beauty and the escapism that is available in the expanse, while at the same time a feeling of disconnect, isolation, and seduction as a byproduct of that same escapism, a new kind of quiet and beautiful numbness to the world that keeps rapidly changing around us.
